Circular Economy Park close to Tirana Airport
An integrated, impactful contribution to Climate Protection, Education, Health and Community Building
Introduction
Welcome to the Circular Economy Park, which is currently being constructed conveniently close to Tirana Airport. This innovative project, spearheaded by visionary and waste management expert Lulzim Baumann, is designed to become a beacon of hope in the fight against environmental degradation and climate change. By embracing the principles of circular economy and community engagement, we aim to address pressing environmental challenges while fostering economic development and social cohesion. The Circular Economy Park is expected to be fully functional by early 2025 – so stay tuned!

Challenges: What Motivates Us?
The Ishmi River, known as the most polluted river in Europe, flows in the immediate vicinity of the Circular Economy Park. It symbolizes the urgent need for action, as its contaminated waters pose serious health risks to communities in Albania and beyond. Informal waste collectors, including vulnerable groups like the Roma community, struggle to make ends meet while facing hazardous conditions. Our motivation stems from a desire to confront these issues head-on and create lasting solutions, which go beyond the course of the Ishmi River.

Goals: What Do We Want to Achieve?
Our goals are ambitious yet achievable. Over the next few years, we aim to significantly increase waste recycling, provide stable incomes for waste collectors, and promote circular economy solutions. Through educational initiatives and partnerships with schools and businesses, we seek to inspire a new generation of eco-conscious citizens and leaders. Ultimately, we aim to create a thriving ecosystem where environmental stewardship and economic prosperity go hand in hand.
Project Pillars: What Will the Circular Economy Park Be Composed Of?
The Circular Economy Park consists of three core components:
I. Multifunctional Education Center:
A hub for learning, innovation, and collaboration. Visitors can explore sustainable products, participate in workshops, and enjoy a coffee at the Repair Café, while their broken items are given a new lease on life.
II. Recycling Yard:
A dedicated space for collecting, sorting and processing recyclable materials, paving the way for a circular economy.
III. Second-Hand Store “World of Values”:
A unique retail experience that promotes conscious consumption and celebrates diverse lifestyles. From electronics to clothing, every item tells a story of sustainability and social responsibility.

Financing
While our project relies on a combination of public and private funding, we remain committed to financial sustainability. Through innovative revenue streams and strategic partnerships, we aim to bridge the financing gap and secure long-term viability.
Long-Term Goals
Looking ahead, we envision the Circular Economy Park as a model of excellence and innovation. By expanding our reach, forging new partnerships, and embracing digital solutions, we aim to catalyze a movement towards a circular economy across the Western Balkans and beyond.
