Recycling Albania

Duration: November 2023- August 2024

Project Overview:

This project seeks to develop a climate-neutral, affordable energy production policy for Albania, focusing on avoiding further gasification of the electricity sector and discouraging new investments in gas infrastructure.

Objectives:

– To propose a policy that aligns with both climate goals and energy needs without increasing dependency on natural gas.

– To educate and raise awareness among decision-makers and the public about the benefits of renewable energy sources and the risks associated with reliance on fossil fuels.

Activities:

1. Research and Analysis:

  1. Conduct desk research to evaluate Albania’s current energy policies and compare them with the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
  2. Analyze potential risks associated with non-renewable energy investments and highlight the opportunities in renewable energy (RES) development.
  3. Summarize findings in a practical, readable document that lays the groundwork for targeted actions.

2. Workshops and Round Table Discussions:

  1. Organize a one-day event with workshops and discussions involving policymakers, experts, and media to discuss the transition to renewable energy sources.
  2. Produce a policy paper post-event to share with the government and the public through various social media platforms.

3. Digital Awareness Campaign:

  1. Launch digital campaigns to educate the public on the role of renewable energy and natural gas in energy transition.
  2. Create and distribute educational content, including videos, infographics, and podcast episodes, emphasizing the environmental, social, and economic impacts of renewable versus non-renewable energy sources.
  3. Aim to reach at least 300,000 people globally, leveraging influencers and various online platforms to maximize outreach.

Expected Outcomes:

  1. A comprehensive policy paper supported by detailed research and public surveys.
  2. Increased public and policymaker awareness of renewable energy benefits.
  3. Enhanced dialogue and policy consideration towards investing in renewable energy.
  4. Broad dissemination of campaign materials to educate and influence public opinion and policy direction.
